Explosion of Color : Introducing the Ulysse Nardin Classico Dragon
Sep 7th
With the new Ulysse Nardin Classico Enamel Champlevé Dragon, the manufacture honors, once again, the lost art of enameling, but this time, it’s through the legend of the Dragon, a symbol of success and prosperity. Legend claims that those who keep the mythical creature close will be granted guidance and protection.
Exuding a fiery spirit, the bright orange and yellow dragon seems ready to leap from the enamel champlevé dial. Set atop a background of the special blue dial of the Classico that represents Ulysse Nardin’s distinctive signature (often referred to as Ulysse Nardin Blue), the strong Dragon twists and writhes about the hour markers; an explosion of fire escaping his mouth setting the evening hours ablaze.
The beauty of the dragon dial is the result of Ulysse Nardin’s devotion to the lost art of enameling and a refined decorative technique that requires the dedication of a master craftsman. Due to its complex and time-consuming forging process, enamel watches fell into near oblivion since the 1950s, and only such top watch makers as Ulysse Nardin are now able to produce the works.
Each dial is an exceptional creation produced by a skilled artisan using a variety of colors that are created from different metallic oxides. The mastery of enameling depends upon both the personal sensitivity and daily practice of the artist. The technique results in dials that are wearable art designed to honor a centuries-old craft.
Ulysse Nardin is producing 30 pieces of the Classico Dragon 40mm in 18-karat white gold and in 18-karat rose gold. A sapphire crystal exhibition window is featured in the case back, through which the self-winding UN-815 movement can be viewed. The timepiece has a power reserve of approximately 42 hours, and the chronometer is COSC certified.
Each watch is accented by a hand-sewn alligator leather strap with a white- or red -gold tang buckle, empowering its wearer with an image that is both bold and sophisticated.

Glashutte Original, ‘PanoMaticCounter XL’
Aug 16th
A Ground-Breaking Complication…PanoMaticCounter XL
This Panomatic Counter XL exemplifies Glashutte Original’s standing as the most innovative timepiece brands of the 21st century. The PanoMaticCounter XL has, as the XL implies, a large watchcase of 44mm in diameter. Inside, the mechanical automatic caliber 96-01 (based on caliber 95) movement does all the labor. Besides the counting mechanism, the PanoMaticCounter XL also features a column-wheel fly-back chronograph mechanism.
The watch has a unique dial layout, perfectly symmetric, especially created to enhance the chronograph data display. It is a true 3D display; the unusual dial layers are beautiful, with technical elegance.
One of the clever features of the timepiece, is the individual counter on the left side of the dial. The key point for Glashutte Original was to create a specific window, which would not bring any confusion on the dial, relating to the date window, adding the red punch of color allows for no mistakes. You can count everything you wish from 00 to 99 by pressing one of the two pushers.
